LIEUT HARRY ENDSLEY LOSES HIS LIFE IN AIR MISHAP SUNDAY
Lieutenant Harry Endsley lost his life in an accident off the Maryland coast Sunday.
This information was contained in a telegram from the War Department to Mrs. Endsley, the former Martha Jennison. Lieut Endsley was a pilot on a bomber, which was on submarine patrol duty, and a telephone message from his commanding officer said the accident occurred when he "bailed out" at 20,000 feet.
Lieutenant Endsley was a recruiting officer at Missoula at one time, but enlisted in the air corps after war was declared. He leaves a little son he has never seen. The baby was born about a month ago.

Lt. Harry Endsley
Funeral services for Lt. Harry B. Endsley were held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 at the Waggener and Campbell chapel with Rev. George Reed of Havre officiating and Flathead Post No. 7 of the American Legion also participating. Don Shepard sang two solos and was accompanied by Mrs. J. M. Carlson at the organ. Legion members who acted as pall-bearers were Harry Koch, Joe Peck, A. J. Moodie, James Heller, Eugene Foote and Ernest Beaudin. Interment followed in Conrad Memorial cemetery.
Harry B. Endlsey, Jr., was born December 13, 1913 at Omaha, Nebraska. He spent his boyhood days in Omaha and graduated from high school there in 1937. After attending Missouri University for three and a half years he enlisted in the United States army in 1941. Later he transferred to the air corps and received his Lieutenant's commission at Stockton Field, California, in July 1943. He was accidentally drowned Sunday, Dec. 19, 1943, near Broomes Island, Maryland, after he had bailed out of a burning plane.
Lt. Endsley is survived by his wife, Martha; two-months-old son, Harry Endsley, 3rd; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry B. Endsley of Omaha; two sisters, Annabelle Endsley, and Mrs. Virginia Houser also of Omaha, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Horstman of Bigfork.
