Merrel Battles Turner, age 91, of Atlanta, Texas died Wednesday, January 18 in a local hospital surrounded by family.

She was born April 14, 1925, to Walter and Era Battles of Van Buren, Arkansas. She grew up under the love and guidance of two hardworking parents who loved and served the Lord, a legacy that would become her cornerstone. "jaybird" Turner, who she later married in 1947. Merrel embraced her role as wife, homemaker, and mother. She was the proverbs 31 woman.

"She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Many Daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates."
(Proverbs 31:27-31)
