Doyle Ferguson, 75, died Thursday, August 12, 2004, in a local care center.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Rev. Randy Packwood officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Doyle was born the son of Maggie (Durham) and Otis Ferguson on December 27, 1928, in Margaret, Texas. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, and later worked as a car salesman for many years before owning his own dealership in Bullhead City, Arizona. While living in McCamey, TX, he coached Little League Baseball, and was a volunteer with the McCamey sheriff's department. He was a Baptist, and moved to Abilene from California in 1979.

Mr. Ferguson was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael Brian Ferguson; a daughter, Jan Ferguson; his parents; a brother, Kenneth Ferguson; and sisters, Doris Lovelady, and Barbara Brown.

Survivors include sons, Don Ferguson of Las Cruces, NM, and Leroy Ferguson of Needles, CA; daughters, Debra Truxel of Las Vegas and Cathy Ferguson of Waller, TX; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by four sisters, Irene Wheless of Abilene, Ruth Farquhar, of Abilene, Wanda Peel and husband, Ray, of Weatherford, and Pat Vallas of California.
