US Congressman. Vanderveer was Kings County (Brooklyn) Clerk from 1816 to 1821 and again from 1822 to 1837. In 1836 he was elected to the US House of Representatives as a Democrat and served a single term, 1837 to 1839. He did not run for reelection in 1838 and died just four months after the completion of his term in Congress.
