Charles Junior Conger
May 19, 1929 ~ May 9, 2017 (age 87)

Charles Junior Conger, age 87, was born south of Cincinnati, Iowa on May 19, 1929, the son of Charles M. and Clittie Parlee (Mikels) Conger, and passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the Golden Age Care Center in Centerville.

Charles graduated from Exline High School in 1946, and attended Bible College for one year in San Jose, California. He then transferred to the Midwestern School of Evangelism in Ottumwa, Iowa and graduated in 1951. The same year, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Childs from Oakdale, Nebraska. They have been married for 65 years, and have been blessed with four children.

He preached for 56 years in Churches of Christ and Christian Churches in Iowa, Missouri, and Colorado. His last ministry was at Plano, Iowa. Charles was a "people-person", blessed with a fantastic memory, loved hunting and fishing, baseball, and singing. He wrote and published a book of poetry. He is dearly loved by his family and friends, and will be greatly missed.

Left to honor his memory are his wife, Marjorie Conger of Centerville; his children, Deborah Conger of Iowa City, Rebecca Conger of Oklahoma City, Julia Azarm and husband of Germantown, Maryland, Charles Mikel Conger of Clive, Iowa; five grandchildren, Jason (Brandy) Tillotson, Tasha (Ben) Hagy, Erin (Larry) Lucas, Ramin Azarm and Negin Azarm; seven great-grandchildren, Kiersten, Waverly, Jensen, and Grady Tillotson, Everly and Zoe Lucas and Mason Azarm; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles M. and Clittie Parlee Conger; two brothers; and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10AM, Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Jerry Weller officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Cincinnati, Iowa. A visitation will take place from 9-10AM on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville. Memorials have been established to either HCI Hospice Care Services or to the Orleans Church of Christ, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
