Margaret Counts was born near Cleveland, Russell County, Virginia, the daughter of John Counts, Jr (1765-1843) and Margaret "Peggy" Kelly.

Margaret married Henry Dickenson Long in 1811 and they had the following children:

Henry and Margaret's plantation including the Long Cemetery where they are buried, according to family records, and where their son, Richard is buried; their plantation home was located just 1/3 mile to the east, on the opposite side of the road from the cemetery.

No stones have been found but there is indication of 2 graves just east of where their son, Richard and wife's stones are located.
