Edward Doyle Pepper, given name Doyle Edward Watkins, was born on Dec. 30, 1958 in Oakland, Calif., where he lived until 1974 when he moved to Walla Walla. He attended Walla Walla High School, he met his soul mate in 1975, but did not start their lifelong bond together until 1978, for 37 years. He cherished his family which meant the most in life.

He attended Walla Walla Community College in 1985, receiving his GED. Ed was a historical and English buff where he was very knowledgeable. But most of all a GREAT MUSICIAN, bass guitar, lead guitar and keyboards. He had written many songs, some well known bands have published and honored his talent. His hobbies were building terrain and painting miniature figurines for small war games. In 2005 he started having health issues.

He is survived by his family, spouse, Bonnie Epps; son, Donigar (Donny) Edward Watkins; grandchildren, Darren Edward Watkins, Nichole Elizabeth Watkins, Scott Watkins; and his two children, Alex and Linda, all from the Walla Walla area; father, Gary M. Pepper; sisters, Janelle Dixon, Janice Sanders; brothers, John Hollis, Dan Hollis; nephews, Shaun Hollis, Randy Thompson, Chris Dixon Jr. Preceded in death by his mother, Roberta Pepper; brothers, Bob Gandy Hollis, David Watkins, Jimmy Pepper Watkins; mother-in-law, Bonnie Reiswig, who was very close to him until her death in 2006; niece, Danielle Hollis.

Viewing will be held at Herrings Funeral Home on Aug. 11 and 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Funeral service will be Aug. 22 at 10 a.m. at Herring Funeral Home. Donations can be sent to EDWARDPEPPERFUND.MYEVENT.COM or the funeral home, any support would greatly help.
