JEETER, LOIS V. On October 20, 2011, Lois Violet Jeeter (nee Tate), beloved wife of Delmas L. Jeeter who predeceased her in 1983, and devoted mother of daughter Donna Joy Murphy who predeceased her in 2000. She is survived by her loving son Larry D. Jeeter and his wife Barbara, of Ellicott City, MD, her son-in-law Edward Murphy of Seattle, WA, sisters; Audrey Striegel of Annapolis, MD, Erma Parmentier of Linthicum, MD, brothers; Donald Tate of Queenstown, MD, Creston Tate of Linthicum, MD, and Atwood (Barry) Tate of Crownsville, MD. She was predeceased by sisters Christine Harnstrom, Edith Andrews and brother Wayne Tate. She is also survived by six grandchildren and their spouses; Shawn E. and Lisa Murphy, of Baltimore, Todd E. and Brocki Murphy, of Chicago, IL, Melanie and Stephen Kaiss of Linthicum, MD, Jarrod C. and Erin Jeeter of Ellicott City, MD, Lara J. and Joseph Mellendick of Catonsville, MD and Dane D. Jeeter of Columbia, MD. She is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lois was born in 1918 in Brooklyn, the first of nine children of Atwood Tate and Della Leonard, and grew up in the Masonville community. When the Masonville community fell victim to eminent domain in 1952 she moved with her family to Brooklyn Park where she lived until 2006. She spent her last years making new friends in the Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville. She was a long time member of the Brooklyn Bible Chapel having first attended services when that congregation was established in Masonville. She was retired from General Refractories in Brooklyn where she had worked for many years as a lab technician. She was primarily interested in the lives, welfare and achievements of her large extended family. She also enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, gardening and reading.
Funeral services will be conducted today, Wednesday at 10:00am at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel at Charlestown Retirement Community, 711 Maiden Choice Lane, Catonsville, MD.
