DORIS I. DeLONG, 94, of Harlan, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Golden Years Homestead. Born in Allen County on Feb. 24, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Erlena (Yerks) Kurtz. A member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Harlan; she was the former owner of the Georgetown Store just East of Harlan. Doris is survived by her children, Edward (Connie) DeLong of New Haven, Stephan (Su) DeLong of Rochester Hills, Mich., and Jeffery (Dru) DeLong, of Arlington, Va.; grandchildren, Michael (Amy) DeLong and Douglas (Jen) DeLong of Michigan, Matthew (Bonnie) DeLong of Fishers, Noah (Beth) DeLong of Tennessee, and Debbie DeLong of Fort Wayne; great-grandchildren, Michael, Max, Natalie, Katie, Ross, Grace, Luke, Lily, Anna, and Laura DeLong; brothers, John (Mary Lou) Kurtz of Fishers, Thomas (Dorothy) Kurtz of Leo, and George (June) Kurtz of Fort Wayne. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Garold "Mike" DeLong; sisters, Marjorie Klopfenstein, Catherine Klopfenstein, and Helen Lantz; and brother, Robert Kurtz. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Hockemeyer Funeral Home, 17629 State Road 37, Harlan, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial at Scipio Cemetery, Harlan.
