Deshler, Nebraska, resident Twila C. Brettmann, 95, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017, in Deshler.

Services are 2 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler. Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Friday with family present 6-8 p.m. at the Ahrendts Funeral Home in Deshler.

Burial is at the Deshler City Cemetery in Deshler.

Memorials may be sent to the family to be designated at a late date.

Twila Clara Bauer, age 95, daughter of Elmer Hans and Adelina Anna Bauer (Nee) Schoen, was born August 14, 1921 in Jefferson County, Nebraska. She passed from this life Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Parkview Haven in Deshler, Nebraska.

Twila was baptized August 20, 1921 at Evangelical Lutheran Church, Gladstone, Nebraska by Pastor Kochheim. She was confirmed in 1935 at Christ Lutheran Church, Davenport, Nebraska by Pastor J.C. Hershey and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Deshler at the time of her death.

Twila was married to Arthur W. Brettmann on April 5, 1940 at Peace Lutheran’s parsonage by Reverend Fred Schwerin and to them one son, Gary A. Brettmann, was born on October 27, 1940.

The family lived on a farm south of Deshler from 1940 to 1981 at which time they moved into the city of Deshler. She continued living in their home until moving into Parkview Haven due to failing health.

Twila was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Adelina Bauer; brother Millard Dean Bauer and wife Beverly; and husband Arthur.

She will be forever remembered by her son Gary and his wife Denise of Deshler; grandsons, Todd W. Brettmann, Parker, CO, Craig A. Brettmann and wife Nada, Littleton, CO, and Robert Noel and wife Lisa, Henderson, CO; great-granddaughters, Kalie Brettmann, Raylynn Noel, Branka Brettmann; great-grandsons Isaiah Hernandez and Brody Brettmann; many nieces and nephews; and a community of friends.
