Calvin Kendall lived in Allen County, Indiana and married Julia Amanda Kistler in 1887. They had three children: Luella, Clarence, Rosa Virginia. Julia became very ill with an unnamed disease and died. Calvin put the three children in the Fort Wayne, Indiana Children's home and left for Michigan. Calvin also had a step son Perry Kistler who he left with Perry's maternal grandparents: Michael & Esther Kistler.
He would remarry later in Cadillac, Michigan and have numerous children.
