Mrs. Jennie Wadley, wife of Mr. Ira E. Wadley, died at their residence, four miles west of Lamoni, on Friday, July 19, 1918, at the age of 46 years, 9 months, and 4 days. She had been unwell for a time, but was not considered as in a dangerous condition; yet a sudden change occurred and she passed quickly away. She was born in Harrison county, Misouri, October 16, 1871.
When she was ten years her mother moved to Lamoni and on December 16, 1890, she was married to Ira E. Wadley. To this union ten children were born: Esther Bozarth of Kansas City, Kansas, Roy B. Wadley, Mrs. Hazel L. Odell, Wm. Frederick Wadley, Doris T. Wadley, Laura M. Wadley, Ira M. Wadley and Orville Wadley, all near Lamoni.
Besides her husband and nine children, she leaves an aged mother, Mrs. Lucinda Wimer, one brother and five grandchildren, also many other relatives and near friends whom she has known and loved from her youth.
Services were held at the residence on Sunday afternoon, July 21, conducted by Elder Henry A. Stebbins of Lamoni. There was a very large attendance from the surrounding country and from Lamoni, the Wadley and Wimer families having been early settlers of this region and therefore well known. Sympathy for the family is universal.
