Donald was born June 23, 1926 in Brighton, IA, to George & Maude (Vanwinkle) Ackley.
Donald proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and received 2 Bronze Stars. He married Shirley Farley in Davenport, IA, on October 14, 1961. Donald was a member of the VFW and NARFE. During his career Donald worked at the U.S. Courthouse in Kansas City, MO, U.S. Topographical Center in Kansas City, MO, and Harry S. Truman Library in Independence, MO. He enjoyed fishing and loved the game of golf. He also enjoyed the CASINOS, Polka Music, going on Cruises and his beloved dog, Howie.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents: George & Maude Ackley; 2 brothers: George Ackley, Jr, and Roger Ackley; 1 daughter: Connie Sue Ackley.
Donald is survived by his wife Shirley of the home; 5 children: Donna Roush of Lawson, MO, Lorrie Lara of Waurkia, OK, Twyla Boguske of Holt, MO, Kay Caylor of Kearney, MO, and Donald Scott Ackley of North Kansas City, MO; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
