Wilfred J Bessette

Milton-Wilfred J Bessette, 74, of 21 Clapper Road, Milton, formerly of Burlington, passed away unexpectedly at his home Tuesday morning, June 19, 1990.

He was born Nov 14, 1915, in Burlington, the son of Joseph and Blanche (Brown) Bessette.

He was a school bus driver with the Burlington School District for many years and was known as "Willy" or " Uncle Joe", especially in auction circles. He had also driven for Gero Brothers for a number of years. Mr. Bessette served his country as a US Army cook during the World War 2 in the South Pacific theater.

He was a Life member of the Disable American Veterans and Milton Arrowhead Senior Citzens.

He leaves his daughter, Mary Bessette, of Milton; two grand daughters, Laurie Fortune and Kim Reed, both of Burlington; one grandson, Marion R Carter Jr. of Mississippi; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alberta Hill of Springfield, Mass., and Delia Burbo of Burlington; one brother Nelson Bessette of Burlington and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 1 pm in St Joseph Roman Catholic Church with interment following in Fort Ethan Allen Cemetery. Visiting hours will be today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m at Elmwood-Meurnier Funeral Home, 97 Elwood Avenue, Burlington.
