The passenger list for the ship James Parnell (SLC 200165) is sworn to on 23 Nov 1850, that they came to the port of New York. The list included Samuel age 36, Priscilla age 34, John age 9, Ellen age 7, Fanny age 4, Priscilla age 10 months, John age 67, and Sarah age 65.

Per the bio of Cutler Halverson, the Martin family came on the ship "James Pinnell" from Liverpool to New Orleans, then to St Louis where they lived four years (& where wife Priscilla died). The family then went to Atchison KS where they joined a Mormon group to Salt Lake City.

They lived in Grantsville (Tooele Co) and Kaysville (Davis Co) and Deep Creek (Ibapah, Wendover Co) in Utah, Montpelier (Bear Lake Co) in Idaho, and settled in Oakley (Cassia Co) Idaho in 1881.
