Everette West Beckom, Jr., 84, of Hickory passed away Saturday February 13, 2016.

He was born October 21, 1931 in Burlington, NC to Everttte West Beckom Sr. and Lucille Boland Beckom.

After graduating from Oakridge Military Academy, he married Mary Hilda Mims. Soon after, he was shipped to Korea and Japan where he was a part of the Secret Service during the Korean War for 18 months. Upon his return, he held several different positions in the workforce including a police officer for the city of Hickory and general manager and part owner of Nelly-Bee Hosiery, a family owned business.

He was preceded in death by both parents, sister Mitzie Abernathy, and two brothers Harold and Joe Beckom.

Everette is survived by Hilda Beckom, two sons Joel and Tom with wife Lore, his brother James Beckom, grandson Luke, four granddaughters Emily, Lianna, Samantha, and Meghan, two great-granddaughters Raleigh and Emery, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Family will be receiving at First Church of God, 306 14th St. SW in Hickory, Wednesday.
