Obituary: Viola Bingham Scrowther, 89, of West Valley, formerly of Smithfield, Utah, died Tuesday, September 12, 1995 in West Valley City.

She was born January 9, 1906 in Smithfield, Utah, a daughter of Willard and Clara Smith Bingham. She worked at the Remington Arms Plant during World War II and was a temple worker for five years in Mesa, Arizona. She married Verner LeGrand Scrowther July 3, 1924 in Smithfield, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. They recently celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary on July 3, 1994.

Survivors include four children and their spouses, Colleen S. Sugden, Bruce and RaNae Scrowther, all of West Valley City; Sharon and Melford Mason of Tempe, Ariz.; Ned and Nancy Scrowther of Moline, Ill.; one sister, Uvada Garrard of Salt Lake City. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Legrand Scrowther; one daughter, LaNae Scrowther; and 10 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 16, 1995 at 2 p.m. in the Nelson Funeral Home Chapel, 162 East 400 North, Logan with President Chad Downs conducting. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery.
