Mrs. Helen L. Raut Formerly of Verona
Ilion, June 17 – Helen Larrabee Raut, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William J. Paddock, 18, Gordon Place, this village at 6:10 p.m. Saturday.
She was born in Oswego County, this state, June 1, 1836, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Larrabee. When 6 months of age her parents moved with an ox team and settled in the wilderness of Branch County, Michigan. There her youth was spent. After the death of her father, their residence was again taken up in this state.
In 1859 she was married to John Raut of Vienna. To this union seven children were born of whom these survive: Mrs. Julia A. Wright of Verona; C. H. Raut of Jackson, Mich; John Raut of Pontiac, Mich., and Mrs. William J. Paddock of this village. Twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren survive.
Mrs. Raut was united with the Baptist Church at the age of 18 and had been a consistent member all her life. She took an active interest in all social and political affairs.
She had made her home with her daughter in this village since the death of her husband in 1908.
