Mrs. Esther Sturgis Senn, of 307 Catawba St., Union, widow of L. Emerson Senn, passed away Sunday April 9, 2017 at her home.

Mrs. Senn was born in Rock Hill, a daughter of the late Harry Victor Sturgis and Mary Moser Sturgis. She was a graduate of Winthrop University where she also received her Master of Arts degree in teaching. Mrs. Senn retired after 20 years as a teacher with the Union County School system where she taught Home Economics, Science, Health and Vocational subjects. Earlier she served as Home Economist with the Union County Clemson Ext. Service. She was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ruth Senn and husband George W. Thompson, III; a son, Richard C. Senn and wife Dawn Wheeler all of Virginia Beach, VA; two sisters, Nancy Sturgis Philips of Rock Hill and Kathie Sturgis Robinson of Laurel, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, Leland Emerson Senn, she was predeceased by three sisters, Celeste Sturgis, Harriet Sturgis Zinker and Jackie Sturgis Hoke.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday April 17, 2017 at Padgett’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery conducted by Rev. Neil Keisler and Rev. Carrol Caldwell.

The family will receive friends in the church Fellowship Hall immediately following the services.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 309 Barnado Rd., Union, SC 29379.

The family will be at the home, 307 Catawba St., Union.
