Biography

Marian K. Dennis, 81, of Grand Island, passed peacefully on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Lakeview Nursing Care Center, after a battle with cancer.
 
Marian was born August 17, 1935 in Beemer, Nebraska to Lorin & Emma (Hoefs) Martin.  She attended Wayne State College for one year, later teaching Country School.
 
She was united in marriage with Warren G. Dennis on June 5, 1955 in Beemer, Nebraska.    Warren and Marian made their home in Grand Island, where she took employment as an administrative assistant for Fayette Manufacturing for many years.  She loved to walk, crochet, and bake an assortment of desserts.
 
She was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church, Grand Island where she volunteered often and took part in community oriented workshops.
 
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Warren G. Dennis of Grand Island, two sons & daughter-in-law Mark & Cindy Dennis of Grand Island, Scott Dennis of Fort Collins, CO, two daughters & son-in-laws, Ann & Noel Guerard, of Royalton, Minnesota, Tracy & Kevin Carpenter of Grand Island, 12 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, her siblings, Ben & Ginger Martin, Irene Martin, Dennis & Julie Martin, Susie & Bill Cohee, Gayle & Norbert Holtz.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorin & Emma Martin, daughter, Becky Lou McElroy, October 20, 1983, and one brother, Gene Martin.
 
Services will be 9:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Peace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Michael Reiners officiating.  Burial will be in Grand Island Cemetery.  Visitation hours will be 4-7 P.M. on Monday, April 17, 2017 at Apfel Funeral Home.  Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.  Apfel Funeral Home is caring for the family.
