Early Life: Lyla was born May 5, 1930, in Orem, Utah, to Orrel Lyle DeLange and Arvilla Denison DeLange. She was born a twin to her brother, Lyle; they were the second and third born in a family of six children. Lyla graduated from Lincoln High School in Orem, Utah. In school she participated in drama, acting in plays and doing readings as well.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: She married Willis Vincent in 1949. They had three daughters together, but later divorced. She helped provide for her family, working at Singer Sewing and Fabric Store, for the Utah State Tax Commission, and as dispatcher for the Utah Highway Patrol. She was a civil servant who was highly respected and appreciated by her co-workers and all she served. She had many hobbies, gifts and talents. Her skills as a seamstress were unrivaled. She was a great cook and a world class chocolatier. She mastered the craft of porcelain work, making as many as 70 handmade Christmas tree ornaments per year, and gifting them to each family member. Early on, she cared for her younger siblings, and later in life, for her children and many grandchildren. She is a people person with many cherished friends. Of all her great talents, perhaps her greatest are: mother, grandmother and friend. She taught by example, how to love unconditionally. Lyla has a great love of others, compassion for the downtrodden and the weary, and she taught through example, "acceptance of all." Despite the difficulties and challenges of her life, she refused to complain, blame, or gossip, and she refused to judge anyone. She chose a higher path of positive attitude, having gratitude for her blessings, and gently showing others how to do the same. She was an active and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings including librarian, teacher, Relief Society president, and as a temple worker in the Mount Timpanogos Utah LDS Temple. Lyla DeLange Vincent passed away peacefully on April 10, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was 86.
