William Merida Barnett, 70, of Hamilton died Feb. 27 at his residence following an extended illness. Funeral services were Tuesday, March 1, at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brad Davis officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
Mr. Barnett was born July 5, 1923, in the Sunshine Community, the son of M. E. [Marion Earl] and Eva [Alma] Hodges Barnett, [who were married 01/15/1914 Book 6 Pg 180.] He was a mechanic, welder and well driller. He was a veteran of World War II, serving on the U.S.S. Grouper submarine in the Pacific. He was a member of the VFW Post in Hamilton and a Baptist.
