Frances Julia Threatt Lyman, affectionately known as “Julie”, 100, of Blythewood, died Saturday, April 8, 2017. Born March 6, 1917, in Lancaster, SC, Julie was a daughter of the late Oscar Alexander Threatt and Lucy Jane Mahaffey Threatt. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Blythewood. A 1940 graduate of Berry College in Rome, Georgia, she went on to teach business courses at Pageland High School until her retirement in 1979. After moving to Blythewood Julie was an active member in her church. She enjoyed attending the Seekers Sunday school class, Hillclimbers group and also loved to bring smiles to faces through music with the OASIS Choir at Trinity United Methodist Church. Julie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Julie is survived by her two daughters, Nancy L. Lyman of Columbia and Martha Lyman Jones (Mike) of Blythewood; 2 grandchildren Julie Jones Tuttle (David) and Kathleen Gilliland Jones; and one great grandchild, Ruby McDowell Tuttle.

Julie is preceded in death by her husband, Sidney B. Lyman; sisters, Bess Hoffman, Gertrude Potts, Sarah Haynes, Mary Elva Smith and Emily Kuhn; brothers, Orville Threatt, Gordon Threatt and Woodrow Threatt.

A Funeral service for Julie Lyman will be held 11 o’clock Tuesday, April 11th at Shives Funeral Home Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia with Pastor Clyde Scott officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow at 2 o’clock in the High Point Baptist Church Cemetery, Pageland, SC.
