Funeral services for Mrs. Sadie Vaden Pope, age 85, of the New Middleton Community, were conducted on Wednesday, February 17, 1993, at 1 p.m. from the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes with Bro. Terry Fesser and Bro. Charlie Pollard officiating. Burial was in the Gordonsville Cemetery. Mrs. Pope died on Monday, February 15, 1993 at the Smith County Memorial Hospital emergency room.

Mrs. Pope was the daughter of the late Edgar and Vera Armistead Vaden. She was married to the late Jesse John Pope who died in 1965. Mrs. Pope was a homemaker and a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church.

Mrs. Pope is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Hurt of Mooresville, Ind., Mrs. Geraldine Winfree of New Middleton and Mrs. Anita Bennett of Elmwood; one son, J.C. Pope of Jessup, Georgia; two sisters, Mrs. June Gentry of Carthage and Mrs. Janie Mae Bush of Gordonsville; two brothers, Charles Vaden of Gordonsville and Donald Vaden of Gordonsville; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
