Mrs. Janie Mai Vaden Bush, affectionately known as Ma Bush, age 89, of Agee’s Branch in Gordonsville, TN, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage, TN.

Mrs. Bush was born December 2, 1926 in the Helms Bend Community, the daughter of the late William Edgar and Vera Pearl Armistead Vaden. Mrs. Bush married Charles Bush on March 6, 1946 and he preceded her in death on September 28, 2000. She was also preceded in death by three sisters; June Gentry, Sadie Pope, and Louise Gifford, six brothers; Charles Vaden, Campbell Vaden, Melford Vaden, Roy Vaden, J.T. Vaden, and Donald Vaden, Grandsons; James Lewis Bush in 1972 and Michael Richardson in 1999, and Great-Granddaughter; Emily Claire Leslie in 2002.

She was a cook at the Gordonsville High School, at the time holding all grades K-12, for 29 years. Mrs. Janie was a member of the Caney Fork Missionary Baptist Church, but faithfully attended the First Baptist Church, Gordonsville for over 30 years.

Mrs. Bush is survived by Three Daughters; Nancy Richardson and her husband, Johnny of South Carthage, TN, Debbie Rich and her husband, Arnold of Pleasant Shade, TN, and Tammie Butler and her husband, Johnny of Gordonsville, TN. Three Sons; Gerald Bush and his wife, Shenia of Hickman, TN, James Bush and his wife, Sharon of New Middleton, TN, and Tom Bush of Brush Creek, TN. Grandchildren; Mary Beth (Darian) Brown, Julie (Brian) Leslie, Jonathan (April) Bush, Matthew (Rachel) Bush, J.D. (Julia) Butler, Taylor Bush, Amy Leigh (Ryan) Rogers, JoBeth (Dustin) McCoy, Kellie Vanzant, and Telesia Silcox. Great-Grandchildren; Minda Jones, Allie Richardson, Grace Leslie, Isaac Bush, Eli Bush, Addilyn Bush, Ensley Bush, Makinley Bush, Aidan Bush, Dawson Bush, Morgan Brown, Devon Brown, Kaylee Brown, and Kaitlyn Henry. One Great-Great-Grandchild; Michael Paul Jones.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Bush are scheduled to be conducted from the First Baptist Church, Gordonsville on Friday, August 19, 2016, at 11AM with Steve Armistead providing the eulogy and Eld. Frank Randolph and Eld. Charles Allen Gentry officiating. Interment will follow in the Gordonsville Cemetery Bro. Ryan Rogers and Bro. Ray Gilder officiating.

Visitation with Mrs. Janie’s family will be held at Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Thursday from 12 Noon until 8PM and at the First Baptist Church, Gordonsville on Friday after 9AM until service time at 11AM.

In lieu of flowers, the Bush Family requests donations in Mrs. Janie’s memory be made to the Gordonsville Elementary School Library or to the Shriner’s.
