(Ester) Jane Doke-Van Horn of Newport, NE was born Oct. 9, 1936 in Greybull, WY to Cliff and Ida Mae Reed. Jane was the middle child, joining Dona and Harry.

Jane passed away March 31, 2017 at the West Holt Memorial Hospital, Atkinson, NE.

She graduated from Dayton High School in May of 1954.

Jane married Roy Doke on Aug. 7, 1954 in Dayton, WY. To this union four children were born, Jerry, Larry, Dan and Tammy. In 1960 they moved to Newport, NE to begin their honey bee operation, Doke Apiaries.

Roy passed away Feb. 22, 1977.

On May 22, 1980 Jane married Ernie Van Horn at the Newport United Methodist church.

Jane was a member of Newport NightinGals, Newport Mafia, the Newport United Methodist church and she loved maintaining Grandma Jane's Park.

Jane loved bringing her entire family together; always planning and hosting parties for birthdays, wedding anniversaries and the annual Doke family Thanksgiving.

Her passions included being a grandma to all her grandchildren and great grandchildren, friends, flower beds, watching the birds in the birdhouses on the patio, spending time on the patio at her family parties, taking grandchildren to the gravel pits, and the Huskers. Muffy III was always by her side.

Jane was preceded in death by her first husband Roy, parents, Cliff and Ida Mae Reed and brother-in-law Al Leiper.

Survivors include, husband, Ernie Van Horn of Newport; children, Jerry and Dee Dee Doke, Newport, Larry and Cathy Doke, Ainsworth, Dan and Teresa Doke, Ranchester, WY, Tammy Cline, Newport; grandchildren, Roy and Heather Doke, Paula and Jerry Martin, Wess and Tammy Doke, all of Sheridan, WY, Daniel and Amy Doke, Big Horn, WY, Ty Doke and Tassie Doke, both of Ranchester, WY, Bryan and Melissa Doke, Ainsworth, Crystin and Jake Umphress, Ewing, Rafe and Tabby Gibson, South Lake, TX, Brandon and Jessi Doke, Norfolk, Trish and Matt Morrison, Bassett, Haily Cline, Clearwater, Jesse Cline, Naper; 22 great grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren; sister, Dona Leiper, Golden, CO; brother, Harry Reed, Basin, WY; brothers-in-law, Bob and Carolyn Doke, Newport and Jim and Diane Doke, Bruce, WI and nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held April 7, 10 a.m. at the Newport Cemetery with Steve Randolph officiating.
