"Berkley Eugene Griffin, youngest child of Horace and Fannie Griffin, was born May 2, 1865, in Ohio and passed away at his home in Wamego July 3, at the age of 78 years, 1 month, and 10 days. He came to Kansas with his parents, locating at Newbury. He lived in Wabaunsee and Pottawatomie Counties most of his life. On Nov. 30, 1896 he was united in marriage to Nellie Smaltz at Alma. To this union five children were born. Three having preceded him in death, two dying in infancy, and Harry Berkley in 1921. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, two daughters, Olcie Hensroth of Wamego and Anna Wilson of Chillicothe, Mo., three grandchildren, Patricia, Louise and Oliver Jr. Wilson, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. The funeral services were held Monday morning at the Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. H.T. Vigour in charge. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery south of Belvue."
