Herlon K. Lyle, 95, of Bloomington, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2017 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.
His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
He was born October 26, 1921 in Pierce, KY, son of Coy and Lora Carter Lyle. He married Betty J. Greene on December 26, 1940 in St. Louis, she preceded him in death on January 2, 2017. He was also preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cheryl Tucker; a granddaughter, Julie McKee; five sisters and three brothers.
Surviving are three daughters, Judy Lyle, Jean Lyle and Sue Rutledge, all of Bloomington; a son, Richard (Janet) Lyle of Brookfield, WI; eight grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Herlon was a United States Army Veteran and a member of the Carl S. Martin American Legion Post #635. He worked at The Eureka Company for 42 years, retiring in 1984.
