Mr. Darwin Cornelius Parrish, 78, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 26, 2017, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

Darwin was born on July 25, 1938, in Rockingham County to the late Robert Lee Parrish and Lettie Jackson Parrish.

He served his country in the United States Army. Darwin attended the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He began working for Western Electric in 1959 before leaving to start a new venture with McNair Construction Company. In 1972, he left McNair Construction Company after attaining the position of Vice President to start Parrish Construction Company. After many years working long hours, Darwin retired from the construction business and started All Homes Inspection Service.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Ken Sanders Bible Fellowship Class where he was a prayer sponsor. He was also active in the Easter and Christmas programs at the church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Lee Parrish.

On June 26, 1959, he married the love of his life, Sonja Gibson, who survives him of the home. He is also survived by a son, Stephen Parrish of Winston-Salem; one daughter, Julie Parrish Warlick and husband, Matt of Winston-Salem; sister-in-law, Janet Gibson and husband, Dwight of Madison, NC; two nephews, Mark Thacker and Vee Thacker of Madison, NC; and two special cousins, Barbara Tucker of Greensboro, NC and Hazel Hurd of Mayodan, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Gary Byrum officiating.

Interment will follow at 2:00 pm at Woodland Cemetery in Madison, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Forsyth County, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
