Charles Staples was given permission to marry Priscilla Baugh by her court appointed guardian, Thomas Trent. The Marriage Bond is dated Aug. 4, 1796, at Prince Edward County, VA, two years after the deaths of her parents. Thomas Trent was married to her mother's half-sister, Elizabeth Edwards. The Trents lived in Buckingham County. Since husband, Charles Staples was born in Buckingham County, that must be where Priscilla met him. He was the son of Isaac Staples and Mary Hood. Charles probably died 1836, the year his property was listed on the Buckingham County Tax List as "his estate".

After the death of her husband, Priscilla was living with her daughter, Elizabeth Kelly on the census.

Priscilla's grandson listed her age at death to be 93. The 1850 Census was probably correct. It had her age as 76 years old. She was most likely 83-86 when she died.
