Mrs. Lydia Anderson Blackston, 87, of 232 Hamilton St., died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at Palmetto Health Baptist Easley.

Born in Pickens County, Mrs. Blackston was a daughter of the late Eddie A. and Bertha Hann Anderson. She retired from the Elljean Plant of Alice Mfg. after twenty-five years of service. She was a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church, where she served as secretary and treasurer of the Grace Phillips Sunday School Class. Mrs. Blackson was formerly a member of Park Street Baptist Church, where she served as preschool director for 43 years.

Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Paul J. Blackston, of the home; three sons, Melvin D. Blackston of Lilburn, Ga., Louis H. Blackston of Orlando, Fla., and Carl H. Blackston of Easley; three sisters, Ruby Fisher of Easley, Retha Wilson of Liberty and Gaynell Smith of LaFrance, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Chris Clark, Cindy Whittemore, Carla Blackston and Selena Blackston, all of Easley, Rachel Little of Loganville, Ga., Cheryl Little of Charlotte, N.C., and Jeffrey Blackston of Orlando, Fla.; and great-grandchildren, Noah and Chloe Clark, Matthew Whittemore and Angelica Roach.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Blackston was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Cecil Anderson, and a sister, Irona Galloway.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home, Downtown, conducted by the Rev. Paul Turner, and assisted by the Rev. Barry Dilworth. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Escort of honor will be the ladies of Calvary Hill Baptist Church.

The body is at Robinson Funeral Home, Downtown, where the family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today.
