BURZYNSKI--W. Burzynski dies, rites Wednesday Walter S. Burzynski, 68, of 2822 8th street, former Columbus city councilman and Platte county supervisor, died Sunday at St. Mary's hospital. In poor health the past six years, he had been hospitalized four weeks.
Solemn High Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony church, with Rev. Fr. John Kent Burzynski, O.F.M., son of the deceased, officiating. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure cemetery.
The body will lie in state after 1 p.m. Tuesday at McKown Funeral Home, where rosary is to be prayed at 7:30 p.m. by the Holy Name Society and at 8 p.m. by the general public.
Mr. Burzynski was born Aug. 2, 1897, the son of Mathias and Catherine Torczon Burzynski, who farmed seven miles east of Columbus. He attended St. Francis academy here.
On Nov. 20, 1922, he was married to Sophie Jazwiec. They resided in Havelock, where Mr. Burzynski was a railroad employee, until returning to Columbus in 1924.
Mr. Burzynski, a retired postal employee, was a councilman from Second Ward from April, 1961, to April, 1963. He had served on the county board of supervisors from 1957 to 1960.
He served in the Army, and was discharged May 27, 1921, at Camp Mead, Md., after being in Headquarters Company, 5th Engineers. He was also in the National Guard with the 130th Collecting Company, 110th Medical Regiment.
Mr. Burzynski had been affiliated with the American Legion and Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and was on the state rifle team competing at Camp Perry, Ohio in 1938, 1939 and 1940.
A Roman Catholic, Mr. Burzynski was a member of the Holy Name Society.
Surviving are his wife; one son, Fr. John Kent Burzynski, O.F.M., Cleveland, O.; five daughters, Mrs. Lorraine Phillips, Bloomington, Ill., Mrs. Gloria Daughtry, Mrs. Rita Boesiger and Mrs. Rosalie Begley of Omaha, and Mrs. Jane Langan of Columbus; 16 grandchildren; and five sisters, Mrs. Polly Jazwiec of Bellwood, Mrs. Mary Rozmus and Mrs. Vera Pfeifer of Columbus, Mrs. Ann Krzycki of Genoa, and Mrs. Margaret Fort of Ventura, Calif.
Mr. Burzynski was preceded in deaath by an infant daughter; his parents; stepfather, Felix Zakrewski; brothers, Peter and Frank; and sisters, Julia Czarnik, his twin, Catherine, at two years, and Katherine.

Rev. Fr. John Kent Burzynski, O.F.M., of Cleveland, son of the deceased, was celebrant at the Solemn Requiem Mass, with Rev. Fr. Richard Swolek, deacon, and Rev. Fr. Miles Kowskie, sub-deacon. Rev. Fr. Armond Lubanski delivered the sermon.
