Tabitha was the daughter of George Gardner and Tabitha Tefft of Kingstowne, Rhode Island. She was married about 1705 to the widower Nathaniel Niles, the son of Joseph Niles and Mary (Farr) Mycall of Braintree, Mass. Nathaniel had married first Jane Littlefield with whom he had one child.
The family was living in Kingstowne, RI in 1712, but her husband purchased land in Greenwich that year, and they spent the remainder of their lives living in the part of Greenwich that became West Greenwich in 1741. Tabitha's will, dated 27 Dec 1759 and proved 13 April 1771, mentioned several of her children.
