Tabitha was the daughter of John Tefft and Mary Barber of Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Her birth year comes from a deposition that she made on 29 Oct 1722, calling herself aged 69 (Rhode Island Genealogical Register 4:43) She was married in 1670 to George Gardner, son of the immigrant George Gardiner and his common-law wife, Herodias Long. Tabitha and her husband raised their family in Kingstowne (now South Kingstown), and George left a will there.
While there is no burial record for Tabitha or her husband George, the land on which they lived was associated with an old house and cemetery, both of which remain in 2015. Their grandson, Nathan Gardner, has an extant tombstone in this cemetery, and this is likely where Tabitha and George were interred as well.
Married 17 Feb 1669/70 per one source.
