According to Uncle Clarence's niece, Joie McKeand Malcolm, Clarence had what we'd call today Type I diabetes, a disease that his nephew Bill McKeand, and a niece Laura McKeand Grate, struggled with. I was told that Uncle Clarence was a very thin young man, and since they didn't have insulin back then, he wasn't long for this world.
