Timothy Gifford Stenerson, 56, died on March 5, 2017 in his apartment at Potter Ridge assisted living with his loving family by his side. Timothy preferred to be called Tim.

Tim, son of Tilman (Tim) and Lois was born on May 11, 1960 in Red Wing. He was baptized at St. Ansgars Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls and confirmed at Vasa Lutheran Church. Tim graduated from Cannon Falls High School in 1978. He started working at the Red Wing Shoe Company shortly after graduation and worked there 38 years until July 2016 when he was diagnosed with cancer.

Tim really enjoyed hunting for fossils and has been interested in fossils since high school. He would still go out collecting fossils, even after he was on chemo, if he had a good day. Another hobby was caving with other caving friends. They would explore caves. The North Shore was one of his favorite drives and he liked flying into Las Vegas and going on tours in that area such as the Grand Canyon, Death Valley, etc. Tim was entertaining and fun to be around, especially at family picnics and holidays. He will really be missed by all of us.

Tim is survived by his parents, Tilman (Tim) and Lois; one brother, Jeff of Red Wing (Keri Hammermeister); and one sister, Kimberly (Tracey) Von Bargen of Alexandria. Also seven nieces and nephews: Alicia, Alex, Benjamin, Midori, Hakyma, Makenzie Hammermeister, and Chance Hammermeister; and four great nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 11 am on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Visitation will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will be at Burnside Cemetery.
