In 1949 they started a 6 month jouney by wagon to Pike County Alabama. The region they settled in was later formulated into Crenshaw County. They acquired 3 land grants. The last of which was after the death of James. Most of the family resided in the Mount Ida/New Providence vicinities around current towns of Brantly, Glenwood and Luverne.
