World War I draft card listed a "Pearle Tilla Sommer" as his wife. Said document listed his occupation as president of the Aldo Sommer Drug company. The card described Walter Sommer as having gray eyes and dark brown hair.

Born in Quincy Illinois, to Mr. and Mrs. Aldo Sommer. Aldo Sommer ran Sommer Drug, wholesalers. Aldo Boulevard in Quincy Illinois was named after Aldo Sommer.

Walter B. Sommer worked for his father's company until it disbanded. He moved to California in about 1926 and worked for Los Angeles Disinfectant company, there.

Walter B. Sommer passed away 30 August 1938 at a hospital in Los Angeles, California. He left a widow, the former Pearl Kaplan of Bucklin Missouri, among other family. Burial took place in Quincy Illinois.
