Amil Janie Simmons, 83, of La Porte, Texas died September 24, 2016. Born December 1, 1932 to Ivy and Millie Hunt of Bartlett, Texas, Bell County. She graduated from Bartlett High School in 1948 at age 15. She lived in Houston until 1954 when she moved to La Porte, Texas. She started at South West Bell telephone (now AT&T) in 1948 and worked there for almost 30 years. She retired as a 2nd line manager. She was preceded in death by her first husband the beloved “Judge” Arlee Brantley in 1991, who she married in 1952; four sisters Ann Marie Donalson, Pearl Louise Prichard, Melba Helen Jones and Imagene Williams; nephew Jim Donalson; She is survived by her beloved husband Richard W. Simmons. She was a member of Broadway Church of Christ and Telephone Pioneers. She loved to paint, especially flowers and landscapes. She loved her many friends, cousins and other nieces and nephews.
