Betty Jo Alexander Williams joined her family in heaven on February 27, 2016.

A Memorial service will be held on Monday, February 29, 2016 at 2 p.m. the First United Methodist Church, 304 S. Elm St, Holliday, TX under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home, Wichita Falls, TX.

Born on June 16, 1931, Betty was the sixth daughter of seven children born to William Oler and Mollie Mae Alexander of Megargel, TX. She graduated from Megargel High School as valedictorian and North Texas State Teachers College with honors. She taught in elementary schools in Corpus Christi and Wichita Falls. Betty married David Charles Williams of Dundee, TX on July 31, 1955. After she retired from teaching in 1957, she and David moved to Black Flat. They worked together to build Williams Brothers Ranch as a legacy for their family. Betty was an avid reader and she passed on her love of reading to her children. She had the gift of giving a unique 'voice' to every character in the children's books she read to children. In her later years, Betty enjoyed a good book in one hand and a jar of peanut butter in the other! When she wasn't reading, Betty loved to quilt, and was a member of Red River Quilters' Guild. She made numerous beautiful quilts for friends and family. She was a good neighbor to all in her community and was a loyal member of Dundee United Methodist Church, and later the First United Methodist Church of Holliday.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, David, her beloved sisters Bobbie Bishop, Marjorie Farr, Glenda Potter, and Doris Richardson, her beloved brother, Bill Alexander, and a granddaughter, Mary Kelly McNair.

She is survived by daughter Molly McNair and her husband, Kelly, of Fort Worth; daughter Katie Mitchell and her husband, Brad, of Black Flat; and son Patrick Williams and his wife, Lori, of Canyon. She will forever be remembered as a feisty and funny 'Granny' by her six grandsons: James Mitchell and wife, Lindsay, of Scotland; Martin McNair and wife, Dawn, of Willow Park; William Mitchell of Houston; and Stephen Williams, Shawn Williams, and Sam Williams of Canyon. She also leaves behind two treasured great-grandsons, Jack Robert Mitchell of Scotland and Morgan Andrew McNair of Willow Park. Additionally she is survived by her eldest sister, Frances Copeland of Olney, and sisters-in-law Nevelyn Alexander of Bryan, Corene Williams of Holliday, and Mary Beth Newman of McPherson, Kansas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family extends their appreciation for the level of care given by the staffs of House of Hope, and Hospice of Wichita Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Rd, Wichita Falls Tx 76310, or Harvest Food Ministry, PO Box 100, Holliday, TX 76366.
