Aged 80. Died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Curtis Tomlinson, near Wayneville. Matilda Underwood had lived for years near Harveysburg at "Orchard Home." She was well-known as a public speaker and author. Her book, "Blue Bells of the Forest" was well-known in Xenia. She was a lifeline member of the Friends Church. Survived by Mrs. Tomlinson, Mrs. Jane Haines of Wilmington, and Joseph Underwood of Harveysburg. J.J. Underwood was her brother, and with Matilda's death, was the only surviving member of the immediate family. (Information from the Friday, Xenia Evening Gazette, March 25, 1932.)
