Ruth passed into the arms of her Savior in her childhood home, surrounded by family, on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at the age of 93.
The daughter of John Willis and Ethel (Deal) Mizer, Ruth was born December 5, 1923, in Chelsea. She attended school at Cherokee Central through the eighth grade, then Bushyhead High School, graduating with the class of 1940. Ruth held several jobs during her working career. She did ironing for people and served as a midwife, but most of her career was spent as a waitress at restaurants such as the Pig & Pen, Chelsea Hotel Coffee Shop, and Flossie’s Diner. It was while working at Pig & Pen that she met a customer named Ralph Most. Soon they were dating, and were married on October 25, 1949, at the Baptist Church in Claremore. They made their home in Chelsea, at first living above the Rexall Drug store, then buying their home on Willow Street around 1956. This has remained their home since then. She retired from working outside the home in the 1980’s. They have been faithful members of the Epworth Methodist Church since 1957.
In her spare time, Ruth’s favorite hobby was reading. She loved caring for her family, and was always ready to help anyone in need, which included providing rides to doctor visits for anyone who needed it, even strangers.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Nona Wilson, grandson, Mike Wilson, and siblings, Lavander Mizer,, Hoover Mizer, Pauline Mizer Bible, and Dixie Mizer Bible and husband Kenneth.
Those left to mourn her passing include her husband Ralph of the home, son, Rodger Most and wife Anna, grandchildren, Mark Wilson and wife Debbie, Vicki Schaefer and husband Jack, Troy Most, Wayne Most, and Stacy Morgan and husband Lee, great-grandchildren, Tyler Wilson, Alyssa, Sarah, and Donovan Schaefer, Melissa Most Gardner and husband Jimmie, Yvette Most Snap and husband Andy, Jack Most, Wyatt and Hanna Most, Noah and wife Sheena Morgan, Courtney and Freddy Morgan, great-great-grandchildren, Braden, Adam, Ryan, and Christopher Snap, Jake and Madilyn Gardner, Emmett Most, and Kendall Campos, her siblings, Pat Mizer Lutz, and John Mizer and wife Mary, as well as a host of extended family members and friends.
