Rachel Starnes Miller White was the second daughter of Jesse and Eleanor Watts Starnes. She was born about 1832 probably in Iredell County, NC. About 1861 she married Jonas Miller and bore two daughters, Amanda and Martha. He served in the Army of the Confederacy and died in late 1864 or early 1865. On July 15, 1867 in Alexander County, NC she married a much older man, William White. They had no children. She suffered from dropsy and died between 1886 and 1900. She is probably buried near her parents in an unmarked grave in the cemetery of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
