Ernest Crabtree, 76, of Pine Knot, Ky., passed away December 25, 2003, at the Scott County Hospital in Oneida. Born in Revelo, Ky., October 7, 1927, he was preceded in death by his parents, William Crit and Mary Belle Kidd Crabtree; brothers and sister: Kenneth Crabtree, Walter Crabtree, and Margaret Crabtree; one grandchild, James Robert Duncan; and one great-grandchild, Devon Honeycutt. He was a mechanic, and was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Irene Strunk; children: Gary Crabtree and wife, Peggy, and Helen Bowling and husband, Arnold, all of Winfield; Terry Crabtree and wife, Mary Rose, of Strunk, Ky.; Debbie Stephens and husband, Jim, of Pine Knot, Ky.; and Wendy Duncan and husband, Robert, of Stearns, Ky.; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters: Chester Crabtree, Bill Crabtree, Frank Crabtree, all of Pine Knot, Ky.; Irene Burke and Maxine Ross, both of Oneida; Lorene Phillips of Stearns, Ky., Dora Maynard of Mount Holly Springs, Pa.; and Nora West of Jeffersonville, Ind.; and many other relatives. Funeral service was conducted December 28, at McCreary County Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Gray and Rev. Willis Troxell officiating. Interment followed in Crabtree Family Cemetery. McCreary County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
