Mrs. John Newton, 74, 4621 Floyd Blvd., died Saturday after a six-week illness. She was a resident of Sioux City since 1937.
The former Goldie Marie Boblit, she was born Aug. 18, 1894, at Auburn, Ill. She was married to Mr. Newton June 1, 1898, at Elk Point. He died in May 1951 in Sioux City.
Mrs. Newton was a member of the Auxiliary of the Spanish=American War Veterans,Daughters of Union Veterans, and of Wesley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Eugene B. of Sioux City and Harry P. of Fair Oaks, Calif.; three brothers, Franklin Boblit of Sioux City, Leland of Emmetsburg, Iowa, and Marvin Boblit of San Gabriel, Calif.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The body was taken to the Anderson Funeral Home.
