Mary was the daughter of Josiah & Luticia Fugate Clark. She married William Marion Nunn on April 21, 1878 in Mount Airy, North Carolina. He was the son of Harvey & Nancy O'Dell Nunn and the former husband of Martha Elizabeth Nunn. Mary and William were the parents of a son, Walter Claude Nunn.

In 1885, Mary left William and took Walter with her. She began living with Eldridge Watson Odell. He was the son of Levi & Susanna Nunn Odell, the husband of Mary E. Godby Odell and the father of six children.

Mary and Eldridge moved to Ohio and were the parents of Eldridge Watson Odell, Jr., Robert Foraker Odell and Alexander Bevis Odell. In 1892, William Marion Nunn sued his wife for divorce in the Pulaski County, Virginia Chancery Court. In 1894, E.W. Odell's wife sued him for divorce.

After both divorce decrees were granted, Mary Clark Nunn married Eldridge Watson Odell on Christmas Day, 1894 in Hamilton County, Ohio. Her son, Walter, used the Odell surname from that time onward. The Odell family settled in Butler County, Ohio and lived in Venice, Coke Otto and Williamstown. Mrs. O'Dell passed away from the effects of stomach cancer.

Note from Honor: The details of the divorce were added to establish the paternity of the children and are not meant to dishonor the memory of any of the involved parties.
