Ada, a native of Guilford County, was born September 9, 1936 to the late John Edward and Vera Huffines Cook. She was the wife of 61 years to Robert Leo Calhoun.
Ada worked for 39 years at Lorillard Tobacco Company before retiring. She was a lifelong member of Apple's Chapel Christian Church and the Helping Hands Sunday School Class.
She was a diehard Duke Basketball fan and enjoyed farming, gardening and baking for neighbors and shut-ins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, A.J. and Charlie Cook, and sisters, Ruby Cook Busick and Annie Cook Jones.
A funeral service to celebrate her life was held at Apple's Chapel Christian Church by Rev. Dave Johnson and Rev. Larry Gray. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
