Mrs. Shipe was born March 27, 1917, in Dovesville, Va., and was a daughter of the late Fahrney Allen and Martha Tusing Fitzwater. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Elta Corway and Louise Mongold; two sons-in-law, Robert Deeds and Lynn Holsinger; and three grandchildren.
Mazie was a member of the Crab Run Church of the Brethren in Mathias, W.Va. She was employed at Garber’s Restaurant, where she started cooking, and went on to cook at Timberville Quick Lunch. She had once owned and operated Broadway Quick Lunch. Due to health reasons, she was forced to retire at the age of 89.
She is survived by three daughters, Betty S. Holsinger of Timberville, Joyce A. Deeds of Charlottesville and Linda Roadcap and husband, Wayne(Ward), of Timberville; sister, Nadene Shoemaker; brother, Allen O. Fitzwater; six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
