Elizabeth Martin, a daughter of Josiah Fleming and Celinda Russell, is listed among the Mormon Pioneers who traveled across the plains with the Eli B. Kelsey Company, which left Florence, Nebraska on 4 July 1852 and arrived in the Salt Lake Valley on 14 October 1852. She was 4 years old when her family made this long and arduous trip.

At the young age of 15, on 18 February 1863 Elizabeth was married to Charles Ashton West in Sanpete County, Utah.

Elizabeth and Charles were the parents of at least Elizabeth Adah West, Don Carlos West and Elvira Celinda West.

According to many family records, Elizabeth Martin West passed away on 14 November 1879 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
