Early Life: Alden was born December 10, 1933, in Sugarville, Utah, to Frelen and Stella Isabelle Spencer Shurtz. He studied at Brigham Young University.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: Alden served in United States Army during the Korean War, and worked at AT&T and Won Door Corporation. He was a master gardener and he owned and operated Shurtz Greenhouse in Alpine, Utah, where he raised and sold bedding plants. He loved working in the yard, raising beautiful gardens, and he loved hiking with his family in the mountains around Alpine. Alden was a hard worker and he accomplished anything he set his mind to. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and he loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ with all his heart. He loved serving the Lord and held many church positions. He loved his family dearly and was a good friend to all he met. The bonds he made with people lasted throughout his lifetime and will extend into eternity. He always had a cheerful and welcoming smile and was willing to help anyone in need. His family and friends will miss him very much. Alden Shurtz died peacefully in his sleep at home in American Fork, Utah, on February 7, 2017. He was 83.
Survived By: His wife, Inga; children: Connie Boucher (Craig), Karen Lloyd (Danny), Mark Shurtz (Keely), and Bruce Shurtz; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and brothers and sister: Cecil Shurtz (Sharon), Jay Shurtz (Yvonne), Coleene Jurgens, Elden Shurtz (Ireta).
Preceded In Death By: His parents; brothers: Guy Shurtz, Lane Shurtz, Kent Shurtz, Keith Shurtz; daughter-in-law, Cindy Shurtz; and granddaughter, Aubrey Pehrson.
